My motivations
Hello Coder and Tech World!
I am Zsena ( Zsanett Tamás, 29 years ) and I encode. I don't say that I am a programmer because I don't feel totally myself as that. Why? Because, I have lesser knowledge than a programmer but more than an average person.
How did I become an encoder?
I always wanted to create. Basically I dealt with cultural organisations because I am interested in arts. Somehow I was not satisfied with that and I knew I have to do something else.
During my HighSchool years, I had a strong feeling to study further in the IT field. I had more lessons about IT than other classes. Originally, I have not been accepted for the IT track, not even another tracks, because my points were too low. But I wasn't stupid. Only lazy and I wanted to show that I have more inside than one of my teacher thought in the primary school.
He said that I never have any profession in my life. So that's when I decided that I will be the best student in the class. I learned a lot, I reached the best grades in the vocational school in a totally different field. I started my fresh year in a class, where the school girls have been already pregnant.
After 3 months, all the teachers talked about me. Then one day, the director of the school came to my class to see me whether I am that good what he has heard so the next day I could start my studies without any fear in that class, where I always wanted to study. He personally escorted me to the class and said to me that:
" Zsanett, never forget this day, because since you have been working here, you are the first student who could go to a better class without any differential exams."
Finally, I was in my way, where I always wanted to be . I could manage it within 3 months. So after all I believe that there is nothing impossible.
After the high school, I did an IT software operator track too. But I haven't encoded yet and I have worked in a different field.
Why?
I was born in Hungary, I have lived in a county for X years, where people thought around me that it is impossible to reach anything in life, because of the poverty and their mentality. My parents couldn't pay my university studies, not even supporting me to start my own life. That time my english knowledge was as equal as -10 so I decided that I want to see the world, experience new things and get to know the life of the work. I visited all the biggest cities in Hungary. I moved to Budapest, when I was 18, I lived 2 years there. I had many different jobs, also heavy physical low paid jobs to survive month by month. Then I got a correspondent scholarship at the Szent Istvan University as an youth sociologist. Beside that I started a course as en educational assistant in Szolnok. It was also with a scholarship. I lived 1 year there, then I moved to Szekesfehervar, where I worked for 4 years in CNC factory. I was employed, because I had the knowledge about the technical drawings.
After a while, I was fed up with that man job and at the same time I knew that I will have many difficulties in my life without the english knowledge. That's why I moved to the Netherlands, where I have worked for 1 year and learned languages. After moving back to Budapest, I tried to be orientated to the IT field, also administration work.
It happened in September 2013. From that time, my personality has changed. I started to think in a different way. I had questions to myself, for example why I don't struggle with what I like?
In 2014 I started a course about the basic programming. The reason I started this study was to see if I have any affinity to encode. I felt that I am good enough but I failed the exam. Due to my previous job, I was really in stress because I was an office leader with a huge responsibility. I could not study. I only knew or remember things what I heard in the lesson. That time I was not ready yet, what I am ready for today.
At the beginning of 2016 I decided that the next year will be different. I planned that I will be a programmer. To manage this, I had to use all my time and knowledge to reach the maximum with expanding the limits. However, it needed the kickstart to have any success feeling, so later I am able to do it alone.
I started an intensive excel course in January, which lasted for 1 month. I learned the basic. Later on the 23 rd of January 2017, I made an skill development test for programmers, where I reached high level. From the 26th of January, I followed a school two times per week after work. Every occasion lasted 3 hours. These courses were all about getting a paper but to make an excellent project work and reach good scores in the test, I needed to learn 4-5 hours every day what I still do.
At the same time I started to look for jobs because I wasn't satisfied with IT support (20%) and commercial manager position (80%) what I had.
That was not enough for my future will. I wanted to learn more, also about encoding. After 1 difficult month for seeking a job , I had success. I selected 20 companies, where I sent my CV with motivation letter as well. I gave detailed information about my skills, moreover I asked whether they have any possibilites to work for them as a mentor. I got many rejections from companies, but some of them were really kind to me. They even gave advices and ideas what I should study further. After a while, finally the ice has broken. One company saw me as pontential, how much I wanna be a developer, so they gave me a chance to prove.
I started to work for them from the 2nd of May, as a Junior Software Developer. I learn everything which can be useful but later I would like to be more specialised. At this moment I own knowledge about HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, PHP, JavaScript ( JQuery), Java SE basic. I feel good at my workplace, because they believe in me, also with a training plan. The leader developer spend much time with me to learn everything. ( Thank you Timbrook )
Until now this is all what I reached, but I have still a lot of plans. I run this page @codergirlscompany on Facebook and @coder_girls in my free time.Sometimes I would like to make 1-2 webpages due to the front-end line. Also, I want to develop my page (www.coder-girls.com), which going to be a tutorial page. Moreover, I have my other project idea for that I have some helpful friends around me to manage it to be developed.
All what I would like to say is " Never give up on your dreams! Too late and too early does not exist. " with love ~ Coder_Girls
